SUMMER FUNDRAISING
A very big thank-you to our fundraisers this summer – you’ve all been very active!
We had two big events – the Asics 10km event in London and the KM’s Colour Run and plenty of people with lots of energy taking part!
Plus some other events and donations too!

Asics 10km
A 10km run around London’s landmarks.
Natasha Haywood ran in memory of her baby sister Naomi, who died when Natasha was six years old.
She had met our CEO at a business event, found out about the work we do and decided to help raise money for other families to receive the support that wasn’t available when Natasha was bereaved.
She raised £1992!

Shani Barwick
Shani’s mum died three years ago and her daughter struggled to cope. She came to one of our specialist support weekends and is now able to accept her nan’s death, cherish and laugh about the memories she has of her Nana.
Shani saw a facebook appeal for runners and decided she wanted to say thank-you for our help by raising money for us.
She raised £373.

Millie Gaskin
Millie is the daughter of our fundraising officer Caroline, and decided to run the 10km for two reasons. Firstly, to celebrate having a strong and healthy body after fighting anorexia and secondly, to give back to her mum.
Just 18 months ago, Millie was struggling to walk around a supermarket – now she has run 10km!
She raised £1597

Phoebe Garrett and Suzy Harrison
Phoebe is the niece of our CEO Caroline Ford and ran the race with her friend Suzy.
They’re both keen runners who were looking for an opportunity to do an iconic London run and they were thrilled to be able to raise money for Holding On Letting Go in the process
They raised £407.50

KM Colour Run
A 5km course whilst being covered in coloured powder!
Emily Champion and family
The Champions came to us after their daughter Imogen died, at 22 months old in June 2016. Their three children were struggling with their grief and we supported them. Now they support us with their regular fundraising!
They raised around £300 and still counting!

Irena Schwock
Irena’s husband was involved in an accident seven years ago and never returned home. He is now cared for away from the family and their three children needed help to cope with the trauma.
She ran with their three girls, Jasmine, Alisha and Naomi and raised £150.
She raised £157.50

Lisa Moreno
In 2015, Lisa’s husband died in a car crash, which left their daughter Alysia without her dad. Three years later, she came to one of our bereavement weekends to learn how to understand her trauma and cope with how she was feeling.
Lisa took part in the event to say thank you to us for our help – and we are very grateful for hers too.
She raised £152.00

Hannah Taylor and Megan Scott
Hannah and Megan are both volunteers for HOLG and have worked one-to-one with bereaved children who have attended our support weekends over the last two years. We couldn’t do what we do to support bereaved children without our wonderful volunteers, and when they take on a challenge to raise money for us as well, we appreciate them even more.
Both volunteer working with children on 1-2-1 basis at our support weekends and wanted to raise money for us to help keep providing the support we offer.
They raised: £385

Tough mudder
A very muddy obstacle course!
Kathy Vyse and her family got down and dirty in a tough mudder event! Kathy’s husband took his own life and we helped their children, Matilda and Finley to cope and look to the future.
She raised £2044.

Prudential Ride 100
Anthony Jones
He took on the prudential Ride 100 and raised money for HOLG as he’s very good friends with a family that we have supported. He saw and heard just how much our support had helped four children in a family after their Dad had died, so he wanted to raise funds to thank us and raise our profile so that other families who might need us would learn about the support we offer.
He raised: £600

Sittingbourne Martial Arts Karate Club
They held a Black Belt Grading for 4 of its members. Kevin, Andy, Calista and George chose to donate all monies collected at the event, to us.
They raised £832
